As we move into 2023 together, I hope each one of you finds hope, joy, and peace this year.
I read this quote by Nido Qubein & wanted to share it,
“Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go. They merely determine where you start.”
New Year's Resolutions?
Okay, I’m not one for new year's resolutions because I think they create unnecessary stress & guilt (especially if I fail to keep them)! But I do enjoy reflecting on areas of my life and business I would like to improve over time.
Here are my top 5:
Set up barriers to avoid distraction!
Stop comparing my work, life, and business to those around me- especially illustrators who have been in the industry for 10+ years!
Sketch more. Sketch for fun. Sketch every day.
Speak kindly to myself.
Enjoy it.
If you’ve given thought to areas in your life you’d like to improve, I wish you all the courage in the world to make those improvements a reality.
Portrait Commissions!
I hadn’t planned to advertise portrait commissions this month, but since Valentine’s Day will be here before we know it, I thought I’d give you all the opportunity to commission a portrait for someone special!
Whether it’s a significant other, a pet-lover, or just someone you admire, a portrait is a personal way to capture your love for them.
I only have time for a couple portraits this year, so if you’re interested you can contact me directly for more information!
Looking Ahead
I’m looking forward to so many things this year- exciting illustration contracts, travelling, visits from family and friends…but this year will also undoubtedly have losses and hardships. Life tends to be a mixed bag of the good and the bad.
Through the happy and the sad life brings, I find great hope in this verse from the Bible,
Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Wishing you all the very best of 2023! If you have any questions, want to collaborate, or just want to chat, my inbox is open to you :)
With love,
Bekah
